Middle School

The youth ministry here at SRCC incorporates all middle school and high school students and exists to encourage and equip youth to love and serve Jesus Christ through relationships, outreach and training.

Weekly gatherings:
  • D/C: Discipleship and Confirmation - Each Sunday morning at 11am, our middle school youth join together for D/C. This is a three-year program designed to help our teens walk through the major themes and characters of the bible and biblical history in class. It includes daily journal writing, monthly meetings with an adult mentor, quarterly service projects and quizzes and yearly memory work on the major belief statements of our faith called Building Blocks.
  • CrossTraining - Each Wednesday night at 6:45pm, our middle school youth gather at the Youth Center for CrossTraining, a time to examine the themes of our faith and their application to our everyday lives. Through activities and games, worship and prayer, and dialog about the night's theme, we seek to apply God's word to our everyday lives.
  • Summer pool parties - During the summer months, while D/C and CrossTraining take a breather we gather for a pool parties.
Monthly events:
  • T.I.A.: Teens In Action - One Saturday each month is set aside for an opportunity to put our faith into action in our community. Whether it is working at the Channel 1 food bank, the Salvation Army Thrift Store or taking part in our church's SWAT team (Service With A Tool), our youth learn that they have much to offer this community, most importantly the love of Jesus Christ shown in a practical way.
  • Special events - It is important for us to develop Godly friendships both with other teens and with caring adults, so each month we get together just to have fun and get to know each other better. Whether we are goofing around at the Mall of America, enjoying our yearly hayride and bonfire, putt-putting or bowling, these times are important for us to enjoy the goodness of God together.
Yearly trips:
  • MUUUCE - The third weekend in August is set aside each year for our middle school youth to attend this annual event sponsored by the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church. 850 teens from all around the conference gather together for three days of waterparks, ball games, ValleyFair, CHAOS, worship, speakers and general mayhem, all designed to give teens the opportunity to get to know one another better and have a great time doing it.
  • ATF: Acquire the Fire - In the early spring, we drive to Minneapolis for a 1 1/2 day gathering sponsored by TeenMania ministries. Meeting at the Target Center, this time is filled with nationally renouned speakers, bands and worship leaders. Here, our teens get pumped up about taking the good news of Jesus Christ back to their schools and friends to change the world for the better.
  • See You At The Pole - Well, it's not a trip but it is a yearly event for us. The third Wednesday in September is set aside for an international rally at all middle and high schools around the world. Youth gather around their school's flagpole for 1/2 hour before school to pray for their school, friends and country. The prayer is student led but adults and teachers can join the prayer time. Then that night, all Rochester youth gather for a SYATP rally. For an hour, we celebrate the morning, worshipping, giving testimony to what God did through the prayer time and continuing the prayer from the morning.
